Blitz Motorcycles BMW R100/7

They’ve done it again. Blitz Motorcycles is a Paris-based custom garage, founded in 2010 by Fred Jourden and Hugo Jezegabel. A pair that conceive, customise and hand finish motorcycles to create unique, one-of-a-kind machines. And from what I’ve seen, every motorcycle they’ve built is incredible, the most famous being their Blacked Out BMW R60/2, completely remodelled as a tribute to The Great Escape.

This BMW R100/7 is a bit different to the R60. It’s not a show piece, it hasn’t been polished for hours or perfectly painted, it looks like a bit of a Frankenstein. It’s supposedly a tribute to ‘Black Beauty’, The Green Hornet’s car from the 1960s TV Show. I don’t really see it, but that ‘s irrelevant. This motorcycle is everything I love about the current custom motorcycle scene.  The Triumph T140 US handle-bar feature a start switch cleverly inserted into lever clasp and Amal grips. The speedo has been relocated to the left side of the frame below the 1970’s Duck blue Honda tank still in the original condition. It hasn’t followed any rules and it’s built from spare parts. It gives the feeling that anyone with the time and resources could muster up something cool and I for one hope to.
