Yes it’s bright orange but it works so well, this 1973 BMW 2002 was built by Chris Roth of CR’s Motor Co from outside Carlisle, PA. Old BMW are cool to start of with I have a real soft spot for the old 3200 Coupe CS but this is a close second. From the colour of the car to the wide arches the whole thing is a really well finished build. The stance is perfect paired up with some sweet looking Hockenheim style alloys. The car looks better for the removal of the chrome trim all-round, makes it look much cleaner and more aggressive as a race car.
Chris went through the process of meticulously repairing the worn metal as well as the holes left behind by the original chrome trim. Going for a motorsports inspired theme, the body was smoothed and stripped of any unnecessary moulding, and OEM flares were added. Keeping OEM, Chris resprayed the vintage racer in the classic BMW orange that was oh-so-famous in the 70′s when the 2002 first made its mark.
It was the photography that first drew me to this car, they have been taken by J.Owen. Everything about the images is perfect, I love the lighting and the soft focus in the background. The orange really jumps out at you but it’s not too over the top. The close up work is really cool too, I love that wood gear knob. Check out the rest of his images on the flickr link below.
